7: True Blood – PLUS Deadlands: Noir

Scott and Arnold want to do bad things with you, so it’s time to take a trip to Bon Temps, Louisiana and find out what all the fang-banging fuss is about. The guys talk TRUE BLOOD past and present as we reach the end of the show’s sixth season and face an uncertain future for the vampire, werewolf, fairy, human, and other assorted denizens of that beleaguered Bayou community.

PLUS: Scott takes us on a brief tour of the amazing line-up of materials now available for DEADLANDS: NOIR, the popular RPG campaign setting also based in Louisiana.

SPECIAL NOTES: We’ve upped our bit rate for this episode to improve sound quality, so let us know what you think! This is also an epic-length installment, so settle in with a drink and some snacks.

Also, although we usually try to be “PG-ish” in content, this particular episode (mainly due to the subject matter) is a little… well let’s say more coarse than previous episodes.

Finally, for those that worry about that sort of thing, be warned: we do discuss the penultimate episode of Season Six in depth, so SPOILER WARNING!

6: Peter Capaldi IS the Doctor!

We just found out this past Sunday, August 4, 2013, that Peter Capaldi will be taking over the TARDIS at the end of this 50th anniversary year of DOCTOR WHO as the twelfth incarnation of the Time Lord. Join Scott and Arnold for our first extra “Satellite” episode to discuss the news, how it was announced, and what the capable Capaldi might bring to the role. Happy times and places!

5: Retro TV – The ABC Sunday Night Movie

Scott and Arnold head  to the 1980s (mostly) for the first in a recurring series of episodes that will take the G2V team back into the annals of “Retro TV!” But where do they go first? Let’s let the voiceover explain…

“Tonight, a special G2V presentation. A nostalgic journey to a time before the Internet, before DVDs, when cinematic blockbusters arrived on your screens via a television network dedicated to providing weekend entertainment for the whole family. Scott Alan Woodard, Arnold T. Blumberg, Joel Crager, Ernie Anderson, and all your favorite stars! THE ABC SUNDAY NIGHT MOVIE!

…although tonight’s episode is meant for the entire family, some of the discussion may veer into sensitive subject matter such as poorly edited James Bond films, nuclear destruction, and even death by gorilla foot. Parental discretion is advised.”

SPECIAL NOTE: We talk about the horrendous ABC edit of ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE and not knowing quite how that came to be. After we completed the episode, we found a website that purports to offer an answer, so see the link below for that explanation!

By the way, what would you like Scott and Arnold to discuss in future “Retro TV”-themed installments? Let us know at contact@g2vpodcast.com or on our Facebook page!

4: Abramsverse Star Trek

Scott and Arnold beam up to an alternate reality and shield their eyes from the lens flare (no, that will never get old) as they prepare to dive deep into the action-packed reinvention of the venerable STAR TREK franchise that some have dubbed “Abramsverse Trek!” So grab some beer, fill up the engine room tuns, rev it up to Warp Factor Whatever, and set phasers to “doesn’t transwarp beaming and magic blood ruin everything?”

Oh, and do we need to warn you that since we discuss both movies in depth, there’s a spoiler storm ahead akin to an asteroid field or a Mutara Nebula made entirely of spoilers? So now you know.

NOTE: We had another technical glitch, with some of Arnold’s audio making him sound a bit drunk (he doesn’t even drink!), but it’s yet another lesson learned for next time – remember to kill all background backups!

ALSO: Be warned, voices are raised a few times – maybe it’s just because of how much we care. Ultimately it’s all a result of us having a great time doing the show!

3: Ray Harryhausen

Ray Harryhausen was a legend long before he died on May 7, 2013, leaving behind a legacy of magical movies filled with extraordinary creatures, amazing adventures, and some of the most memorable moments emblazoned into the hearts and minds of generations of fantasy filmgoers. In this special tribute episode, Scott and Arnold talk about the career of a man that made rubber and metal into living icons of pop culture, from the giant monster invasions of the 1950s to the sorcerous exploits of Sinbad the Sailor and the beasts of classical mythology.

NOTE: We had a few occasional technical hiccups this time, resulting in slightly variable audio quality. It’s all sorted out now, and we’ll be back on track and sounding fantastic next episode!

ALSO: Scott wanted to correct a slip during the episode. ADI is Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc., linked below. We’ve also provided a link to the exciting Kickstarter campaign page for “Harbinger Down,” so check below!
